I want my old calendar views back !!

One of the issues we’ve had to deal with is that the new version (8.5x) of Lotus Notes seems to have taken away a number of ‘old favorite’ views in your calendar, like the ‘work month.’ The work month calendar was particularly nice because it gave you a fill month’s view of your calendar, without the weekend days.

Turns out, there’s a way to get them back, although this trick doesn’t “stick”, so you’ll need to do it every time …

So, we can start here:

This is the “default” month calendar in Notes 8.5x.

But, people liked the “old” month calendar. By hitting Ctrl-Alt before you click “Month”, you can get the old calendar:

And, better yet, this view scrolls, so you can have a month view that includes a couple weeks from one month, and a couple from the next. Note where July 1st falls in this screenshot:

But wait, there’s more!

In addition to being able to get the old view back, you get the old functionality back, meaning you can view a month (a whole month), or you can view a “work month” (meaning as full month, but not showing weekends).

By clicking the dropdown at the Month tab, you can select “Work Month”:

And the result is a scrolling month, with no weekends:

Wish my real-life calendar was this empty!!

This doesn’t work on my 8.5 client – - what am I doing wrong?

I really wanted to get back the work month but I’m afraid the Ctrl-Alt didn’t work for me so I was wondering whether there is something that is needed at the administrator level. Or any other way to get “work month”

    Thanks

    Hi Tamime and Jay,

Unfortunately I did notice the same thing for me. Some users it worked for them and others it didn’t. Not sure what the cause was but when I started telling users to rebuild there views before and after doing the “Ctrl + Alt” open Month it showed the old calendar view more consistently. To rebuild your views do a “ctrl + shift + F9″

No you don’t need any special ACL administrator access for this to work. Hopefully I will narrow it down to what works and what doesn’t and when I do I will be sure to make a new post.

I realise this is an old post, but where do you find this Month button? All I have got is a view menu underneath the mini-calendar that lists ‘One month’ but clicking this with ctrl-alt doesn’t do anything…

    Hope you can help me,

    Mick

Site seems pretty dead, however, since I found this looking into the issue of Scroll bars for the Calendar view I thought I’d share. The ctrl+alt click worked for me when I clicked the calendar option in the “Open List.” This was true for the Inbox and Contacts as well.

It worked form you by doing the ctrl+alt click on the Open list (if you don’t see it, select menu View->Dock the Open List), then hold ctrl+alt and click on the calendar icon.
